Reception: Sports Week!

Reception: Sports Week!

It was Sports Week in Reception and we enjoyed lots of physical exercise. We learnt a Brazilian Carnival dance, we played cricket with Mr. Stoneman and had a taekwondo lesson from a member of the UK taekwondo squad! We also saw the Olympic torch paraded around the school and we stood outside our classroom with flags and musical instruments cheering it on!

This week we were thrilled with our new topic; the Olympic games! We have been showjumping over ordinal numbers outside, counting the pins we knock down in bowling and trying to win board games by rolling the dice and counting our way to victory!

Reception: Summer 2 Week 1

We had a fantastic start to our Summer term, with a visit from the Animal Man. We met a gecko, a snake, a spider called Charlotte and two sand fish! We also enjoyed a messy stay and play with our parents and got our toes covered in mushy peas and baked beans. It was a wonderful sensory experience, full of opportunities for us to use our super language skills. We have also been enjoying the start of our ‘Dragons and Knights’ topic.

Reception: Summer 1 Week 5

Reception: Summer 1 Week 5

This week in Reception we have been hopping outside on our numberline and using it to write number sentences. We played ‘Kickball’ in our PE, learnt about the life cycle of a Sunflower and decorated our bird wings. Then on Thursday, to celebrate the diversity in our classroom, we performed to our parents by singing ‘Rockin Robin’ and ‘3 Little Birds’!

Reception: Our Farm Trip!

Reception: Our Farm Trip!

We enjoyed a lovely sunny day at Smithills Open Farm! We met so many different animals and went on our very own donkey ride. We even braved a bumpy tractor ride and fed the donkeys in the top field. We met many baby animals too and even a big long scary snake! Thankfully big brave Mr. George was there to hold it for us! We also saw where the milk we drink comes from, as the farmer showed us how dairy cows are milked. All in all it was a super day full of learning!
